Castilla-La Mancha launches a Digital Connectivity Social Bonus for families in vulnerable situations.

The Castilla-La Mancha Regional Government has announced a program to promote digital connectivity for families in severe vulnerability. The program is funded through the “Next Generation EU” Recovery Fund and the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

The program, called Digital Connectivity Social Bonus, aims to finance the hiring of new broadband services or increase the speed of already contracted services. This initiative aims to guarantee access to teleworking, online education, electronic transactions with the administration, and any other service that ensures quality of life and avoids the creation of a new digital divide for vulnerable individuals.

The Digital Connectivity Social Bonus will provide assistance of up to €240, equivalent to a monthly deduction of €20 for 12 months, to finance a new high-speed internet connection or the upgrade of an existing one in the household. The bonus is targeted at severely vulnerable families who are beneficiaries of the 2021 or 2022 Thermal Social Bonus. To be eligible for this bonus, the address where the Thermal Social Bonus has been granted must match the address where the internet connection will be made.

The deadline for applying to this assistance program is August 31, 2023.

The Digital Connectivity Social Bonus is part of the initiatives of the Regional Government to promote digital inclusion and ensure that individuals or family units identified as vulnerable can access a broadband connection with a minimum speed of 30 Mbps. This measure adds to the efforts to ensure that no family is left behind in the digital age.
