The writer Paloma González Rubio is declared immortal in an emotional ceremony in Herencia.

An emotional ceremony took place in the crowded courtyard of the Herencia town hall, where writer Paloma González Rubio was declared Immortal thanks to her acclaimed book “Dead Boys.” This prestigious recognition was bestowed by the 160 young readers participating in a project organized by the Municipal Library and the Youth Department, in collaboration with the local educational centers.

The event began with representatives from each of the involved educational centers presenting. Subsequently, the Youth and Library Councillor, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, presented González Rubio with a commemorative plaque, along with a basket of local fruits and vegetables. The writer, visibly moved, expressed heartfelt words of gratitude to the attendees and the young readers who had voted for her work.

“This award is a recognition not only of my work, but also of the importance of reading and the fundamental role that young people play in keeping literary culture alive,” expressed González Rubio.

The event also served as an opportunity to thank the educational centers for their involvement in the project. The young participants who conducted interviews with the finalist writers received special recognition for their enthusiasm and dedication.

The highlight of the gala was the storyteller Félix Albo, whose talent for storytelling made everyone present laugh and be moved. The day concluded with a lively reception, where attendees could share thoughts and enjoy a camaraderie.

Paloma González Rubio’s declaration as Immortal not only highlights her literary talent, but also Herencia’s commitment to promoting reading and culture among young people. This event strengthened the bonds within the educational community and once again demonstrated the value of initiatives that foster a love for books and creativity.
