In collaboration with the centers “El Picazuelo” and “Carpe Diem”, Herencia has organized a special program to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which will be celebrated on December 3. The activities, aimed at promoting inclusion and visibility, will take place from November 30 to December 13, with leisure, sports, and community interaction proposals.

Highlighted activities of the program:

The program began on November 30 with the Family Day celebrated at the “Carpe Diem” center, where the center’s calendar for the upcoming year was presented. The event served as a meeting point for families and residents, reinforcing the local community.

On Monday, December 2, Mayor Sergio García-Navas officially inaugurated the Week of Different Capacities with an event at the Town Hall Courtyard. During the ceremony, the Integration Decalogue was presented and the work of local companies like “Mascaraque Olivo” and “Jabalí Gastro Bar” was recognized for their commitment to the labor integration of people with disabilities. The traditional hanging of the ribbon on the Town Hall balcony was also carried out.

Other proposals for the community include recreational activities for the users of the “El Picazuelo” and “Carpe Diem” centers such as leisure outings, movie screenings, and group meals. Additionally, the program promotes physical activity by participating in municipal sports facilities and local gyms, promoting healthy habits and interaction spaces.

On Friday, December 6, participants will take part in the Official Act of the Constitution, where representatives from both centers will deliver speeches at the Town Hall.

Spaces of inclusion and community living:

The main objective of the initiative is to create environments where people with different abilities can live together and share common experiences with the rest of the community. The organizers emphasize that this week aims to be an example of inclusion, showing how daily and community activities can be adapted to be accessible to all.

The program, with the collaboration of several local sports and cultural entities, reaffirms Herencia’s commitment to the visibility and rights of people with disabilities. The Town Hall invites all residents to participate and support the scheduled activities, highlighting that these dates are not only meant to celebrate diversity but also to build a more inclusive and fair society.
