On Tuesday, December 31st, the Plaza de España in Herencia (Ciudad Real) will be the epicenter of one of the most anticipated sports traditions in the town: the San Silvestre Herenciana 2024. This event, organized by the Municipal Sports Service of the Herencia City Council, combines sports, fun, and solidarity, establishing itself as a must-attend event to bid farewell to the year in an active and committed way.
Sport for a charitable cause
Just like in previous editions, the San Silvestre Herenciana will have a charitable purpose. All proceeds will be donated to AFANION, the Association of Families of Children with Cancer, through the collaboration with Las Supernenas, who lead this solidarity initiative. This cause adds a human element to a day that not only celebrates sports but also the generosity of the participants and the entire Herencia community.
Two routes for all ages
The event will have two categories to ensure participation of all ages:
– Children’s category: Starting at 11:30 a.m., the youngest participants can enjoy an adapted route that allows them to be part of this sports day.
– General race (5 km): At 12:00 p.m., the main route will begin, taking runners through a 5-kilometer circuit starting and finishing at the Plaza de España.
New features and special prizes
This year’s edition comes with some new features that promise to make it even more special. Among them, the highlight is the free serving of migas (a traditional Spanish dish) for all attendees and a free beer for the first 240 runners, courtesy of Lemmon Moments.
In addition to the traditional trophies for the top three finishers, there will be a prize for the most original costume, promoting the festive and creative atmosphere of the day.
Registrations open
Registrations have been open since Monday, December 9th at the establishments indicated in the event poster. The organization encourages all residents and visitors to sign up, both to enjoy sports and to collaborate with this important charitable cause.
