The Municipal School of Music increases its stock of instruments thanks to a new agreement with the City Council.

The Municipal School of Music and Dance of Herencia will see its instrumental resources strengthened thanks to the annual agreement signed between the City Council and the ‘Molina Prados’ Association, which manages musical education in the town.

The agreement was ratified by Mayor Sergio García-Navas and the president of the association, Gabriel Molina Prados, in an event attended by the Councilor of Culture, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, and the School’s director, Víctor Gallego de la Sacristana.

An increase in funding to ensure the School’s growth

This year, the municipal subsidy allocated to the School has increased to 79,000 euros annually, a rise driven, among other factors, by a 25% increase in enrollment numbers.

The Music School has experienced significant growth in recent years, going from 43 students in 2018 to 125 enrolled in 2024, ensuring generational continuity in the Santa Cecilia Musical Group, a cultural reference in the town.

New instruments to expand learning opportunities

Thanks to this contribution, the School will be able to acquire new instruments for loan to young students, allowing them to try out different instruments before choosing one that best suits their musical education.

As explained by the School’s director, the Association’s goal is to guarantee access to musical education for a greater number of people, ensuring the continuity and growth of the educational offerings.

For his part, the Mayor of Herencia emphasized the importance of this agreement and praised the work of the entity in promoting musical culture in the town. He also emphasized that the increase in the budget allocation is fully justified by the educational work carried out by the School, establishing itself as a key space for artistic and cultural development in the municipality.

A boost to musical education in Herencia

This agreement strengthens the City Council’s commitment to musical education and access to culture, providing the necessary resources for the School to continue growing and offering quality education to all its students.

With this initiative, Herencia continues to prioritize music as a fundamental pillar in the education of its youth, ensuring that more and more children and adults can enjoy instrumental learning and practice in the best conditions.
