The exhibition “The Commerce of Herencia, the Heritage of a Town: Over 100 Years Bringing Life to the Streets” closed its doors yesterday after several weeks of activity, achieving significant participation from both local residents and visitors.
Organized by the Commerce Association and in collaboration with the Town Hall, the exhibition showcased the evolution of the commercial fabric of Herencia through documents, photographs, and historical objects, serving as a tribute to several generations of merchants who have contributed to enlivening the town’s streets.
During the closing event, association members highlighted the great reception of the initiative, which has sparked curiosity and recognition among residents of all ages. Many were able to rediscover historic businesses, recall family anecdotes, or simply witness the transformation of shop windows, streets, and customs over a century.
As a result of this success, the Town Hall announced its commitment to creating a documentary video and a printed publication that will capture and preserve all the content from this exhibition, as a way to keep the memory of Herencia’s commerce alive and facilitate its dissemination.
Additionally, as a conclusion to the special spring campaign linked to this activity, a raffle for five gift vouchers was held, which were awarded to winners during the event. This initiative aims to incentivize local shopping and reward residents for their loyalty to nearby businesses.
This initiative has not only highlighted the historical and social significance of commerce in Herencia but has also served to assert its current and future role as an economic driving force, job creator, and urban dynamo. Activities like this strengthen local identity and foster collaboration among residents, businesses, and institutions.
