The ‘El Roce’ area, one of the most frequented and iconic spaces in the town, will once again be transformed into a semi-pedestrian zone from this Friday, June 27, until September 24, coinciding with the summer season and outdoor leisure activities.
The initiative, successfully implemented in previous years, is part of the sustainable urban mobility plan that aims to make Herencia more accessible, livable, and focused on citizen well-being. The goal is to prioritize pedestrians, ensuring safe foot traffic through this emblematic area, while creating a more pleasant environment for community life, hospitality, and local commerce.
Traffic will be restricted on the stretch between Plaza Cervantes and Plaza de la Libertad, with the following schedules in place:
- Fridays: from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
- Saturdays: from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
- Sundays: from 1:30 p.m. to midnight
This measure responds to growing demand from residents and local businesses for safer, quieter, and more accessible spaces, especially during months of heightened social activity. The initiative also supports more sustainable mobility models by reducing vehicle traffic during key hours and improving air quality and the urban environment.
Additionally, this semi-pedestrianization will coincide with a full program of summer activities taking place in the town center, including cultural events, street markets, children’s activities, and live music performances.
With this initiative, Herencia continues its commitment to reclaiming urban spaces for people, making the town center a more welcoming, vibrant place that reflects modern needs and values.
