Herencia is finalizing preparations for its 2026 Carnival during the Christmas season—a celebration that continues to grow in significance and participation. The event will take place from February 7 to 18 next year. Declared of National Tourist Interest, the upcoming edition features notable updates, especially regarding its most iconic event, the Grand Offering Parade.
Following the recent unveiling of the official poster and the publication of the rules for selecting the Honorary Pearls, the Town Hall has now announced changes and improvements to the parade’s organization to ensure its successful execution and solidify an event that gains more prominence each year.
The Offering Parade will remain open to all interested groups, ensuring equal opportunities and a dynamic route. Registration will be open from January 13 to 26 and must be completed via email. Groups that have participated in at least five editions over the last ten years or won awards in the previous edition will have a preferred registration window on January 12, provided they meet the established requirements. Additionally, groups that register but do not participate will be excluded from competing in future editions.
These measures aim to acknowledge and enhance the ongoing involvement of groups that contribute to the parade’s success and splendor year after year. The main awards will remain unchanged, including seven prizes for Special Floats, with the special ‘Pearl 2026’ award for the best float; three prizes for Local Floats; ten awards for Comparsas, Chirigotas, and Peñas in various local and national categories; and three awards for Murgas, Charangas, Estudiantinas, Tunas, and Rondallas. In total, the prize money amounts to nearly €24,000.
The Councilor for Culture, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, stated that these changes “aim to protect a parade that has become a massive event, reaching full capacity for the past two years and breaking participation records.” He hopes that this new edition will showcase “a spectacular level of art, talent, performance, and color on the streets that cannot be seen anywhere else.”
