Herencia regains its sonic memory with the presentation of the book about the history of its Band of Music.

The Town Hall courtyard of Herencia hosted the launch of The Music Band of Herencia: From the Municipal Band to the Santa Cecilia Musical Association, a comprehensive research work authored by local historian Ángel Saturnino Martín-Fontecha and published by the municipality. The event featured the presence of Mayor Sergio García-Navas, Roberto García-Escribano, president of the Santa Cecilia Musical Association, and Román Bustamante, president of the Regional Castilian-Manchego Federation of Music Societies. The evening also included a saxophone ensemble performance from the association itself.

A Documented Journey from Origins to Present

During the presentation, Ángel S. Martín-Fontecha shared insights from the documentation process and emphasized how music has shaped the social and cultural life of Herencia over the decades. The author highlighted names, dates, and anecdotes that illustrate the transition from the old municipal band to the current Santa Cecilia Musical Association, thus preserving an intangible heritage that risked fading over time.

Mayor Sergio García-Navas emphasized the municipality’s commitment to publishing works that highlight cultural heritage and pay tribute to generations of musicians who have carried the name of Herencia beyond its borders.
In turn, Roberto García-Escribano expressed gratitude for the thoroughness of the work and its contribution to the identity of the association; while Román Bustamante underscored the regional significance of the book as a reference for the history of bands in Castilla-La Mancha.
