New sculpture at the roundabout of the CM-420 and improvements at five entry points.

Herencia is moving forward with its plan for landscape and aesthetic improvements at access points, featuring interventions in five key locations across the municipality. The most notable work is taking place at the roundabout on the CM-420 road (access from Puerto Lápice), which now showcases a sculpture by artist Monique Bastian that pays tribute to the agricultural heritage of Castilla-La Mancha.

“The Town Hall will continue to work on every detail to create a more attractive image for both residents and tourists, while optimizing maintenance tasks and resources,” emphasized Mayor Sergio García-Navas.

Areas of Intervention

  • CM-420 (access from Puerto Lápice). Complete renovation of the roundabout featuring the work of Monique Bastian, which includes 100 fiberglass stems topped with 3D-printed spikes, arranged in a circular pattern. The installation is complemented by four rings planted with native species.
  • Expansion of the Industrial Zone. Work on one of the roundabouts includes shrubs and flowering plants along with ornamental lighting. Specific lighting for metal sculptures currently being installed is also planned.
  • CR-1341 Crossroad (two roundabouts). Beautification work has already been completed. At the Mirasierra roundabout, a shepherd and his flock have been recreated to honor local history, surrounded by grassland vegetation.
  • CM-3167 (access from Villafranca de los Caballeros). Improvements to the entry slope include ground cover species and flowering rose bushes, as well as a pedestrian connection between the two crosswalks on Avda. de la Encarnación.
  • Surroundings of the Municipal Cemetery. A roundabout project designed with similar criteria as the Industrial Zone: green spaces and ornamental lighting.

Design Criteria: Identity and Maintenance

The plan emphasizes the use of native and climate-resistant plants, aiming for year-round color and low maintenance; it incorporates artistic elements and ornamental lighting to highlight the installations and enhance the welcome for visitors arriving in the locality.

Through these initiatives, Herencia strengthens its entrance image, values its agricultural tradition, and improves visual comfort and safety at high-traffic areas, in line with the municipal strategy for public space care.
