Herencia will celebrate the 22nd Story Marathon and Arts Fair.

The Miguel de Cervantes Municipal Public Library and the Youth Department of the Herencia City Council are preparing a new edition of the Story Marathon and Arts Fair, a cultural event that this year celebrates its 22nd edition. It will once again bring together oral storytelling, crafts, creativity, and community participation.

The event will take place on Friday, July 17, starting at 9:00 PM in the Municipal Park, near the Exhibition Hall. As in previous editions, it aims to fill the night with shared stories and provide a space for local artists, craftsmen, and creators to showcase their work to the public.

A Night of Stories for All Ages

The Story Marathon maintains its participatory spirit, with a program designed for diverse audiences. The first part of the evening, titled “Guess How Much I’m Telling You,” will be dedicated to family-friendly stories and will run from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Starting at 11:00 PM, the second part, “With Stories and Wild,” will target young adults and run until 1:30 AM. This format allows the activity’s rhythm to change as the night progresses, with offerings more suitable for each age group.

This year’s edition will also feature storyteller Paula Mandarina, who will engage the audience throughout the evening, bringing her experience to an event that has kept the tradition of community storytelling alive for over two decades.

The Arts Fair Returns to Municipal Park

Alongside the oral storytelling marathon, the Arts Fair will provide a space to exhibit artistic works, crafts, and creations made by those interested in sharing their work with neighbors and visitors.

The initiative is aimed at both those who enjoy telling stories and those who create objects, designs, or crafts and want to showcase them in a close-knit environment. Registration to participate is open until July 10, with two distinct options based on the modality.

For those wishing to tell a story, information can be obtained from the Miguel de Cervantes Municipal Library at phone number 926 572 475, located at Lope de Vega Street, 35, or via email at [email protected]. To participate with a booth at the Arts Fair, the contact is the Pablo Iglesias Youth Center, reachable at phone number 663 744 782, located on Tierno Galván Avenue, or via email at [email protected].

22 Years of Tradition

The Story Marathon and Arts Fair is one of those activities that has grown with community participation. Over 22 editions, it has gathered storytellers, families, youths, artisans, artists, and culture lovers for a night that combines words, imagination, and togetherness.

The Municipal Park will once again become the stage for a simple yet culturally significant proposal in Herencia. Oral storytelling allows the pleasure of listening to stories live, while the fair provides visibility to those dedicating time to artistic and handcrafted creations.

This event also maintains an intergenerational component, allowing children, young people, and adults to share the same space, whether as audience members, storytellers, or exhibitors. This blend contributes to the continuity of an activity that each year incorporates new voices while preserving its intimate character.

Herencia will thus celebrate a night dedicated to stories and creativity, with the Municipal Park as the meeting point and Paula Mandarina as a prominent presence this edition.
