A journey to Heritage in 1935 through unpublished images

The Municipal Auditorium of Herencia was filled with neighbors during the presentation of the ‘Tahona 15’ project, promoted by the Moreno-Manzanaro Rodríguez-Palmero family. An event that sparked great anticipation by projecting unseen images filmed in 1935, offering a unique visual testimony of the history and daily life of the municipality almost a century ago.

A visual archive that recovers the memory of Herencia
The images, rescued from old film reels, showed scenes of a lively and traditional Herencia:
– The fairs and popular festivals, reflecting the joy and festive spirit of the time.
– The field work, capturing the effort and dedication of the farmers in their daily lives.
– Summer days in the lagoons, where moments of leisure and nature were observed.
– Life in the streets and canals, offering a unique perspective of the daily activities of the people of Herencia back then.

This previously unseen material represents an important historical and cultural legacy, allowing new generations to understand the evolution of the municipality over the years.

After the screening, an open discussion took place where attendees shared their impressions and reflections on the images seen. Many scenes evoked memories in the elderly, while the younger generation discovered a Herencia they were unfamiliar with, but which is part of their identity.

The Moreno-Manzanaro Rodríguez-Palmero family expressed their satisfaction with the impact of the presentation and the interest it generated in the community, reaffirming their commitment to preserving local historical memory.

Due to the project’s great reception, on Friday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m., the Municipal Auditorium will host another screening of ‘Tahona 15’, where attendees can once again enjoy this valuable historical archive. Additionally, the presentation will include a dialogue session to share reflections and opinions on the importance of preserving such documents for future generations.

‘Tahona 15’ is an initiative that not only recovers images from the past but also promotes collective reflection on the evolution of Herencia and the need to protect its visual and cultural heritage. With this proposal, the town reaffirms its commitment to history, identity, and cultural heritage, keeping alive the memory of those who built the Herencia we know today.
