Herencia has been recognized with the Best LGTBI Tourist Destination Award in Castilla-La Mancha during the celebration of the II Regional Tourism Forum of Castilla-La Mancha, which brought together institutional representatives and professionals from the tourism sector in Sigüenza on Monday.
The award was received by the mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, accompanied by the Tourism councilor, María Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco Galán. The award recognizes the work carried out in the municipality to offer an open, diverse, and safe destination for all people.
The presentation took place during the first day of the II Regional Tourism Forum of Castilla-La Mancha. The meeting addresses the future challenges faced by inland tourist destinations and brings together representatives from administrations and the sector itself.
During this first day, the Tourism Awards and the Plaques for Tourist Municipalities of the autonomous community were also presented.
The Carnival, one of the hallmarks of Herencia
The recognition received by Herencia is closely related to one of its most representative celebrations: the Carnival. This festival is one of the main hallmarks of the town and represents values such as diversity, freedom, and participation.
Tradition and celebration come together during the Carnival of Herencia, an event that is part of the municipality’s identity and also serves as an expression of a society open to participation.
The Best LGTBI Tourist Destination Award precisely recognizes this commitment to making Herencia a welcoming and inclusive place. The award also helps to strengthen its tourist image and may attract visitors interested in experiencing authentic destinations that combine tradition and an environment respectful of diversity.
The distinction also comes at a forum specifically dedicated to analyzing the future of inland tourism, an area where municipalities like Herencia find in their traditions and celebrations a way to showcase their identity to visitors.
Sigüenza brings together the tourism sector of Castilla-La Mancha
The II Regional Tourism Forum of Castilla-La Mancha has chosen Sigüenza as the setting to bring together institutional leaders and sector representatives. The day is conceived as a space to address the challenges facing inland destinations and analyze their evolution.
The awards ceremony has been part of the activities of this first day. Along with the Tourism Awards, Plaques have been awarded to the Tourist Municipalities of Castilla-La Mancha.
The meeting was chaired by the President of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page. Also participating were the Minister of Economy, Enterprises, and Employment of Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Franco Jiménez, and the Director General of Tourism, Commerce, and Crafts, Arantxa Pérez Gil.
For Herencia, the award represents a new recognition linked to its tourism offer and the way in which the municipality projects its traditions. The Carnival holds a prominent place within that identity and is presented as a celebration where freedom, diversity, and participation are embraced.
The award received in Sigüenza thus reinforces the promotion of Herencia as a tourist destination and focuses on its hospitable, inclusive, and respectful character, alongside traditions that are part of the life and image of the municipality.
