The City Council of Herencia, through the Women’s Center, has launched the 5th Edition of the Conciliatory Holy Week. This initiative, part of the Corresponsables Plan, aims to facilitate childcare for minors during the Holy Week vacation period and support the reconciliation of work and family life in the municipality.
The initiative will take place on March 30 and 31 and April 1, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with an option for early arrival at 8:00 AM for families in need. The program will be organized by age groups and held in two municipal venues: the Municipal Nursery School and the Pablo Iglesias Youth Center.
This proposal is part of a public policy promoted by the Corresponsables Plan, funded by the Ministry of Equality, the Secretariat of State for Equality, and the Institute of Women of Castilla-La Mancha. It aims to enable mothers and fathers to maintain their work or training activities while their children are cared for. The measure, as emphasized by the councilor for Equality, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, seeks to provide real solutions to everyday needs and enhance equality of opportunity.
Two age groups and two municipal venues
The 5th Conciliatory Holy Week is designed with a clear age distribution. On one hand, the resource is aimed at the Nursery School, for children born in 2023, 2024, and 2025, with a specific condition: only those currently enrolled and attending the Nursery School can apply.
On the other hand, the Pablo Iglesias Youth Center will accommodate the group of children born between 2016 and 2022, thus extending coverage to ages that often coincide with periods when families face the most difficulties in reconciling non-school periods with work schedules.
In both cases, the general schedule will be in the morning, with the option to start at 8:00 AM for those who need it. The City Council also reminds that this is a reconciliation resource and not a recreational service, appealing for responsible use when families plan to enjoy vacation rest during those dates.
Application deadline: March 2 to 6
The application period will be open from 9:00 AM on March 2 until 2:00 PM on March 6. Documentation must be sent via email to the Women’s Center: [email protected].
Once the pre-registration period is over, the documentation will be reviewed, and places will be allocated between March 9 and 13, according to established evaluation criteria.
