Herencia has showcased the next edition of its Carnival at FITUR 2026 (January 21–26) during a historic moment: its recent declaration as a Cultural Heritage Asset (BIC) in the category of Intangible Heritage. This recognition highlights the value of a popular festival that is diverse and deeply rooted in local identity.
A Heritage Celebrated in the Streets
The Herencia delegation emphasizes a lively and community-oriented Carnival, featuring local groups, ensembles, and associations that bring the festival to life in the streets, passing it down from generation to generation. At the Castilla-La Mancha Tourism stand, Herencia invites everyone to experience a close and creative celebration under the motto of a Carnival “to live it.”
Presence at FITUR LGTBI+
Herencia also participates in FITUR LGTBI+ to promote the Summer Carnival Drag Queen Contest, which has become a hallmark and an example of the town’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
A Taste of Local Flavor at Raíz Culinaria
The initiative is complemented at Raíz Culinaria with chef Iván Anaya, who presents the Herencian cheese as a gastronomic ambassador for the municipality, reinforcing the connection between festive culture and local products.
An Open Invitation
Herencia encourages both locals and visitors to attend FITUR and discover a unique Carnival recognized for its cultural value and its ability to bring the entire community together around the creativity, music, and humor that fill the streets of Herencia every February.
