Herencia is kicking off its Cultural Spring early, featuring 12 significant events scheduled until May.

The Culture Department of the Herencia City Council announced on Wednesday the Spring Cultural Program, which will run from March 13 to May 31. This agenda will feature a blend of national theater performances, neighborhood celebrations, religious events, and traditional pilgrimage celebrations.

Cultural Councilor Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana emphasized that the initiative aims to encourage community participation and provide access to quality offerings without the need to leave the municipality. “We want our residents to enjoy a cultural experience on par with any city,” he stated during the presentation.

Top-Notch Theater and Humor

Key highlights include performances such as ‘&Juliet’ as part of the School Campaign; the comedy show ‘Think of Wilbur’; ‘But Don’t Tell Anyone’, featuring well-known comedians like Agustín Jiménez, Sara Escudero, and César Campa; the flamenco theater production ‘Las 13 Rosas’; and ‘The Farce of the Golden Age 2.0’.

As a new feature, the last two plays will be available through a combined subscription, allowing audience members to enjoy a discounted price compared to purchasing individual tickets.

Holy Week, Festivals, and Pilgrimages

The program aligns with the celebration of Holy Week, which will include various religious and cultural events, such as the anniversary concert of the Cornet and Drum Band ‘Los Siete Pasos’, the Holy Week proclamation accompanied by the performance of the Filarmonica de la Mancha, and participation from the Polifónica Coral of Alcázar de San Juan at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

The spring agenda also includes neighborhood festivities, such as San José in March and the Encarnación in May, as well as traditional pilgrimages to La Pedriza in honor of San Isidro and the Virgen de la Cabeza.

Gallego de la Sacristana highlighted that the presence of five major national productions and prominent theater companies underscores Herencia’s cultural appeal and the interest in its auditorium.

Tickets for the various activities are already available at the Casa de Cultura and through the online platform globalentradas.com.
