Herencia is getting ready for the first big weekend of its Carnaval 2025, a festivity of National Tourist Interest that keeps alive the traditions inherited from the 18th century and that every year brings together thousands of people in its streets.
The first three days of celebration are a countdown to the highly anticipated Offering Day, and they represent an explosion of color, satire, and costumes that start with Friday Prisillas, continue with the crowded Saturday of the Anxious, and reach their climax with the Sunday of the Desires.
Friday Prisillas: The Carnival flame is lit
On Friday, February 21 starting at 10:00 p.m., Plaza Cervantes will become the meeting point for the first major Carnival event. The associations “Los Imposibles” and “Jarra y Pedal” will organize the traditional lighting of the “Carnival Flame”, symbolizing the beginning of the festivity.
Following this, the shortest carnival parade will go through the center of Herencia in an evening set by DJs and with a tasting of BBQ, one of the novelties of this year.
Saturday of the Anxious: The awaited “Herencian New Year”
Saturday, February 22 is the day of the official kick-off of the Carnival in Herencia. A day full of events and with the participation of important carnival groups.
Main events of Saturday:
11:30 p.m. | Bells of the “Herencian New Year” at Plaza Cervantes and Avenida de la Constitución, with the Charanga Stacazzo setting the pace and the handing out of the traditional “12 Ugautreras”.
00:00 a.m. | Start of the Party with the Orchestra “Alaska on Tour” at the Carnival Palace.
04:00 a.m. | Special session with DJ Saavedra.
Furthermore, throughout the day, the group “La Kanalla” will parade through the streets of Herencia, while the Chirigota “Los Pelendengues” will perform at the Municipal Auditorium.
Sunday of the Desires: the first major Carnival parade
If Saturday is the moment of the official start, Sunday, February 23 is when Herencia fully immerses itself in the party. Street masks take center stage and satire, humor, and tradition invade the municipality.
From the early hours of the day, the masks will fill the streets with color, surprise, and wit.
4:00 p.m. | The first major parade or “Trágala” kicks off, known as “General Invitation”, where authorities, entertainment groups, and the Perlé walk through the town inviting everyone to enjoy the next 10 days of Carnival.
The Carnival of Herencia 2025 has begun and promises, once again, to be a unique celebration where fun, satire, and homage to the Blessed Souls of Purgatory come together to bring the most important party in the town to life.
