Herencia opens enrollment for the 2026-2027 Popular University in September.

The Popular University of Herencia has already prepared its program for the 2026-2027 school year, offering more than thirty courses and workshops aimed at children, youth, adults, and seniors. Registration will begin on September 1 for children’s activities and September 3 for adults, while classes are scheduled to start from October 5.

Technology plays a prominent role. For children and youth aged 6 to 17 years, a course titled AI, Programming, Scratch, Typing, Computer Science, and the Internet will be offered, taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the computer lab of the Training Center.

For adults, there will be a course on Introduction to Computer Science and the Internet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and another focused on Computer Science, the Internet, Electronic Offices, Digital Banking, and AI, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

People over 60 years old also have a specific proposal, Your Mobile and Digital Management, designed to help them better navigate their phone and digital services. This will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Casa de Cultura.

The offering goes well beyond computer science. Activities such as patchwork, knitting, bobbin lace, crochet, reed and esparto crafts, creative fashion, furniture restoration and decoration, and new trends will return.

There will also be space for movement and artistic expression with flamenco, sevillanas, Latin dances, classical and Spanish dance, folklore, theater, and bachata. The latter is among the new offerings for 2026-2027 and will have a group on Sundays from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the Municipal School of Music.

These proposals are complemented by yoga for adults, cooking, painting and drawing, chess, and Local History, along with the Municipal School of English, for which information and registration will be managed specifically.

Chess and educational support among the new offerings

The program incorporates new activities this course. One of them is Chess, open to a mixed group and scheduled for Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Casa de Cultura. The fee will be 25 euros per semester.

Another addition is Support in Development and Learning for children with special needs. It will be conducted as an individual and personalized activity from Monday to Friday at the Youth Center. Both the specific schedule and the price are yet to be determined in the program.

Also included is Active Mind + Active Body, aimed at those over 60 years old. It will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Day Center, with a fee of 25 euros per semester.

The University of Experience, in a cooperative modality, will continue on Wednesdays from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Casa de Cultura for 17 euros per semester.

The program also includes the Women’s Classroom, with the schedule pending determination, and the Secondary Education for Adults course, for which the Adults Education Center of Alcázar de San Juan and the Training Center of Herencia can be contacted.

Another proposal is Shared Legacy, a free bi-weekly activity for which registration is scheduled for the end of September.
