Herencia will host the first edition of the 24-Hour Futsal Marathon this summer, a new sporting event taking place from July 17 to 19, 2026, at the Municipal Sports Center. The tournament aims to be participatory and will have both senior and youth categories, catering to young players born from 2008 onwards, as well as children in the “Pitufos” category.
This competition expands the summer sports offerings in the municipality and provides an opportunity for teams of different ages to participate. The registration period will remain open until Friday, June 26, and interested teams can complete their registration through the channels indicated by the Municipal Sports Service.
Categories for All Ages
The tournament will feature a senior category for players born from 2008 onwards. Additionally, various youth categories are planned to encourage participation among children and young people. The youth category will be for those born in 2009, 2010, and 2011; the children’s category for those born in 2012 and 2013; the Alevín category for those born in 2014 and 2015; the Benjamin category for those born in 2016 and 2017; the Prebenjamin category for those born in 2018 and 2019; and the Pitufos category will be for those born in 2020.
This structure will ensure an intergenerational aspect to the marathon. The senior category will introduce a higher level of competition, while the youth categories will turn the tournament into an opportunity for the youngest participants to enjoy futsal in a sportsmanship and communal atmosphere.
The inclusion of youth categories is especially significant in a town with a long sports tradition and active participation of children and youth in local schools and competitions. Events like this help wrap up the season or maintain activity during the summer when many families look for sporting opportunities to continue enjoying team sports.
Prizes and Registrations
The senior category will have the most notable prizes. The winning team will receive €1,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will get €500 and a trophy. Additionally, the best player will be recognized, and the Fair Play award, named after V. Manzanares, will be presented.
In the youth category, the winning team will receive a €100 dining voucher for a local restaurant and a trophy, while the runner-up will be awarded a €50 dining voucher and a trophy. In the children’s, Alevín, Benjamin, Prebenjamin, and Pitufos categories, both the champion and runner-up teams will receive trophies.
The registration fee will be €100 per team in the senior category, €50 per team in the youth category, and €30 per team for all other youth categories. For local teams participating in the Young Promises League, the registration fee will be €15 per team.
Registrations can be completed until Friday, June 26, at the Municipal Sports Service offices from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The email address [email protected] is also provided for inquiries and information related to the tournament.
A New Summer Sports Event
The 1st 24-Hour Futsal Marathon adds to the summer sports calendar in Herencia, a season during which the municipality hosts numerous outdoor activities, tournaments, camps, and offerings for various age groups. The event at the Municipal Sports Center will gather players, families, and fans for a weekend filled with competition and a sports atmosphere.
Futsal maintains a strong presence in many municipalities due to its dynamic format, which is engaging and easy for audiences to follow. In competitions like this, the excitement comes not just from the decisive matches but also from team interactions, family support, and players sharing a passion for the sport.
The first edition will also be an important test to cement the tournament for future seasons. If the response from teams and spectators is positive, the marathon could become a staple event in the Herencia summer, combining grassroots sports, senior competition, and local participation.
The Municipal Sports Service encourages interested teams to consult the available information and finalize their registration within the established time frame. On July 17, a new sports initiative will kick off with hopes of filling the Municipal Sports Center with futsal, community engagement, and a summer vibe.
