Institutional visit to the La Encarnación Cooperative during the olive harvest season.

On Wednesday, December 17, Mayor Sergio García-Navas and Rural Development Councillor M.ª Eugenia Díaz-Pacheco visited the facilities of the La Encarnación Olive Oil Cooperative, part of the Montes Norte Group, coinciding with the olive collection campaign. The meeting included members of the Board of Directors and served to welcome the new president, Gabriel Carrero Díaz-Meco.

Shorter Campaign, but Higher Quality

According to the cooperative, the current campaign is lower in volume compared to previous years, although the fruit quality is better, which will allow for an exceptional production close to 3 million kilos. The management emphasized that this quality will positively affect the oil produced.

Improving Capacity and Efficiency

The entity is already working on the implementation of a second production line. The goal is to handle spikes in olive intake more efficiently during high-volume campaigns and to optimize the transformation process for future campaigns.

Commitment to the Local Agri-Food Sector

During the visit, the importance of the olive oil sector in the economy of Herencia was highlighted. It was also noted that the oil mill shop offers a wide variety of tasting products, as well as hardware materials for agricultural work, bringing consumers closer to the efforts of local farmers.

This visit reaffirms the Town Hall’s support for cooperativism and a key sector that combines tradition, employment, and quality in the area.
