The Carnival of Herencia 2025, declared a National Tourist Interest Festival, will have a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safe development of all scheduled events.
This Tuesday, the Local Security Board met in the Town Hall Council Chamber to coordinate the necessary measures for the celebrations that will extend from February 21 with the “Friday of Prisillas”, February 22 with the “Saturday of the Ansisos”, until March 5, when the festival will conclude with the traditional Burial of the Sardine.
Attending the meeting were the mayor, Sergio García-Navas, the councilor of Culture, Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, the councilor of Citizen Security, Serafín Tajuelo, as well as representatives from the Government Sub-delegation, Civil Guard, Local Police, and Civil Protection.
Key measures to ensure a safe Carnival:
The special security plan includes a reinforcement of security forces, with presence in high-traffic areas and strategic points in the municipality, to ensure the safety of attendees and prevent incidents. Planned actions include:
– Increased presence of the Civil Guard, with reinforcements from other localities.
– 24-hour operational Local Police, increasing their intervention at key moments.
– Collaboration of Civil Protection in access control and incident response.
– Emergency Center near the Carnival Palace, with the presence of Red Cross and Civil Protection to attend to any emergency.
– Installation of ‘Purple Points’, aimed at raising awareness about gender violence and providing assistance in case of sexist aggression.
Additionally, the security plan includes traffic control measures, as the high attendance of the public causes disruptions in circulation, as well as surveillance in lower-traffic areas to prevent acts of vandalism.
Herencia maintains positive security indices:
During the meeting, the Chief Captain of the IV Company of the Civil Guard, Antonio Villalta Sánchez, presented a report on crime rates in the locality over the past year.
The data reflects that, thanks to the implementation of surveillance cameras, 50% of the reported crimes have been solved, keeping Herencia below the regional and national average in terms of crime.
Furthermore, a progressive increase in Local Police and Civil Guard personnel is announced for 2025, with the goal of improving security in the municipality in the long term.
With this plan, Herencia is preparing to experience a safe Carnival, with all the necessary measures for residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
