The Herencia City Council and the San Francisco Residence are joining forces to provide a new essential service for the well-being of the elderly in the municipality. Through a collaboration agreement, a project has been approved to complement the municipal Home Help service, offering the possibility for the elderly to have access to a balanced daily meal.
This agreement arises as a response to one of the promises in the electoral program of the current government team and focuses on the needs of people over 65, particularly those who live alone or with similarly dependent individuals. Additionally, the service extends to individuals under 65 in situations of loneliness and without a social or family support network. The San Francisco Residence offers a Food Collection or Residential Food service, available every day of the year, including Sundays and holidays, at a very affordable cost.
This project not only enriches the existing Home Help service but also promotes the autonomy of dependent users, allowing them to remain in their familiar environment and enjoy a better quality of life without having to leave their homes.
During the meeting where the progress of this collaboration was discussed, important figures from the municipality and the San Francisco Residence were present, including Mayor Sergio García-Navas, Social Welfare Councillor Conchi Rodríguez-Palancas, the Superior of the Community, Sister María Luz, and the Residence Director, Gema Díaz-Flores. Together, they discussed new avenues of collaboration to extend this service to a greater number of elderly residents.
Mayor García-Navas highlighted the municipal government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the elderly, ensuring that the necessary measures are being taken to offer them balanced meals tailored to their nutritional needs.
This program is presented as a brilliant initiative to support one of the most vulnerable communities, ensuring that the elderly of Herencia receive the care and support they deserve.
