Last week, the participants of the reading project Inmortales experienced a unique day with a visit from writer Pedro Ramos, who shared with them the creative process and the “behind-the-scenes” of his finalist novel Código 9. The meeting, designed as a close conversation, allowed the young attendees to learn firsthand how a story is constructed, blending intrigue, realism, and a touch of science fiction.
The main interview was led by Mónica and Marina, students from the Seminario Menor Mercedario, who guided the discussion with the author—now based in Málaga—through questions focused on the work, its characters, and the elements that led to Código 9 becoming a finalist. The lively and participative format ensured that the audience engaged from the very beginning.
In addition to the dialogue with the interviewers, attendees had the opportunity to interact and ask the writer about more personal and practical aspects: his beginnings in young adult literature, his writing routines, and advice for those dreaming of creating their own stories. This exchange was particularly valuable for a young audience, as they heard how an initial idea transforms into a final manuscript.
The event concluded with a book signing and a local gesture of appreciation: a selection of products from La Mancha as a gift to the author.
Pedro Ramos is no stranger to this literary award. He was the winner in 2019, in its third edition, with El coleccionista de besos, and this year he is once again vying for the honor with his new work, strengthening his connection to an initiative that continues to bring reading and literary creation closer to young people.
