Just a few days are left for the early Carnival of 2024 to be officially presented in Herencia on January 24, and the rules of the National Parade Float Contest that will take place on February 13, a public holiday in the locality, have already been announced, and it comes with a lot of new features in terms of participation and prize amount.
The awards have increased in both number and value in all categories, making it one of the most participative and relevant parades in the region. In the Special Floats category, the number of prizes has increased from 5 to 8, and a special mention ‘Perlé 2024’ has been included for the best float in the parade.
In the entertainment groups category, including troupes, street bands, student bands, and musical groups, the prize amounts have been increased and two new prizes, a fifth and a sixth, have been created in the troupes, street bands, and clubs category. The prize amounts for the top three prizes have also been increased in the student bands, musical groups, tunas, and rondallas category.
For local groups participating, the four existing prizes have been increased.
The Mayor, Sergio García-Navas, and head of the Festivities department, has emphasized the importance of the prize amount increase as a reward for Herencia to shine at its best in a parade that has great tradition and continues to grow in interest and participation, making it one of the most important carnival events in the region.
In the last edition, the parade saw the participation of more than 3000 people and 19 groups from 21 different localities, united by a single passion, Carnival, and once again, it is expected to break participation records. Registrations are already open and will remain so until Friday, February 2, the day when the events for this National Tourist Interest Fiesta will begin.
