Herencia opens registrations for the XXII Story Marathon and Arts Fair.

The Miguel de Cervantes Municipal Public Library and the Youth Area of the Herencia Town Hall have opened registration for the 22nd Story Marathon and Arts Fair, a cultural event taking place on Friday, July 17th, at the Municipal Park, near the exhibition hall.

This activity marks its 22nd edition, bringing together storytellers, artisans, artists, and the public for a night dedicated to sharing stories, creativity, and community. Those interested in telling a story or showcasing their creations at the Arts Fair can register until July 10th.

A Night of Stories for All Audiences

The Story Marathon will once again transform the Municipal Park into a space open to words and imagination. The program will kick off at 9:00 PM with “Guess How Much I Tell You”, a storytelling session designed for families, running until 11:00 PM.

After 11:00 PM, it will be time for “With Stories and Madness”, aimed at youth and adults, lasting until 1:30 AM. This format allows for flexibility in catering to different audiences while keeping the narrative atmosphere alive throughout the night.

This year’s edition will also feature storyteller Paula Mandarina, who will accompany the audience throughout the event. Her presence enhances the special character of an activity that combines local participation with professional storytelling in an outdoor setting.

The Story Marathon thrives because it is built by many voices. Those who come to tell a story contribute their voice, memory, or imagination; those who listen also engage, as oral storytelling requires attention, closeness, and complicity.

The Arts Fair: A Showcase for Local Creativity

Alongside the Story Marathon, the Arts Fair will be held, providing a space for artisans, artists, and creators to display their work to the public. This initiative is open to those who create crafts, art pieces, or other creative works and want to share them in a culturally rich and family-friendly environment.

Such spaces are vital for highlighting local creativity. Often, artists who paint, design, sew, sculpt, illustrate, or craft work in private settings or small workshops. The Arts Fair offers them a chance to connect with neighbors and visitors, as well as an opportunity to demonstrate processes, engage in conversations, and showcase their work.

The combination of storytelling and craftsmanship gives this event a unique identity. It is not just about attending as an audience; it is about participating, showing, telling, and sharing. This blend of popular culture, artistic expression, and community interaction explains why the event has reached its twenty-second edition.

Thus, the 22nd Story Marathon and Arts Fair continues to hold a prominent place in Herencia’s summer cultural calendar. The event on July 17th invites everyone to listen, create, and connect through an activity that, year after year, shows that culture is built through community participation.
