Herencia commemorates International Women’s Day with an emotional event at the Town Hall courtyard.

On Friday, the Town Hall Patio in Herencia hosted a commemorative event for International Women’s Day, creating a particularly emotional and engaging atmosphere. The gathering brought together many people for an afternoon filled with recognition, words, and music, all under a clear message of commitment to equality.

A central moment of the event was the presentation of the Elvira Fernández Awards for Equality, which this year honored Dominga Romero Fernández-Cañadas, Mª Carmen Díaz-Pavón García-Mascaraque, the Home Help Service (SAD), and Yolanda Portillo Villarreal. These awards highlighted their dedication, exemplary actions, and contributions to breaking down barriers and stereotypes, making them role models for the community.

The event concluded with the reading of the Manifesto by volunteers from the Library, and a musical performance by singer-songwriter Javier Pelayo, adding a musical touch to a day that emphasized the ongoing importance of collective and grassroots efforts for equality.
