The Culture Department of the Herencia Town Council has launched a new initiative for this summer called Atardeceres al Fresco, a cultural program designed to breathe life into some of the town’s most emblematic spaces during July and August.
This initiative takes advantage of one of the most delightful times of day in summer: the sunset. As temperatures begin to drop and people feel inclined to go outside, Herencia aims to transform locations such as the Municipal Park, the Sierra de la Horca, and Plaza Luis Martínez-Calcerrada into open-air stages for enjoying music, art, gastronomy, heritage, and community.
With this new series, the Town Council reinforces its commitment to bringing culture outdoors and making it accessible to both locals and visitors in uniquely charming natural and urban settings. The program will consist of five events taking place between July and August, featuring activities designed to offer a different perspective on the town.
Culture, landscape, and gastronomy in one experience
A key feature of Atardeceres al Fresco is its fusion of cultural activities with the collaboration of local hospitality. At each event, a different establishment will provide a culinary offering designed specifically for the occasion.
This approach not only highlights public spaces and artistic talent but also showcases the work of local restaurateurs. Music and gastronomy will merge in a format meant for leisurely enjoyment in recognizable open-air settings throughout Herencia.
Aitor Gallego de la Sacristana, the Town Councilor for Culture and Youth, expressed gratitude for the involvement of participating establishments in this inaugural edition. He noted, “This proposal combines culture, landscape, and gastronomy, providing a unique experience to enjoy Herencia from a different perspective, made possible by the participating establishments and artists.”
The Municipal Park kicks off the program
The first event of Atardeceres al Fresco will take place on Thursday, July 9, at the Municipal Park. The series will begin with a concert by Alicia Portillo, complemented by culinary offerings from Ja.bali Gastro.
This inaugural gathering will serve as the starting point for a cycle aimed at creating special atmospheres in various spots across Herencia, capitalizing on the proximity of public spaces and the allure of summer nights.
The Sierra de la Horca, the highlight of several events
The second activity will occur on Thursday, July 16, at the Sierra de la Horca, one of the most picturesque locations for sunset views in Herencia. This event will include open-air workshops organized by the Youth Department, a musical session by Isaac Romero, and a culinary proposal from You Garden.
The Sierra de la Horca will also feature prominently in other events throughout the program, reinforcing its role as a key natural and heritage site in the town. This scenic setting, paired with music and gastronomy, will be a major draw of this new cultural initiative.
Hiking route, dance, music, and local cuisine
On Friday, July 31, one of the summer’s most emblematic days will feature a new edition of the Hiking Route, ¿De qué está llena la luna?. This activity will include a performance by the Asociación Baila Conmigo, a musical session by DJ Koreg, and culinary offerings from Restaurante Mascaraque Olivo.
This event will blend heritage, movement, music, and local cuisine, maintaining the spirit of Atardeceres al Fresco: to provide unique experiences that allow everyone to enjoy Herencia in its open spaces, in harmony with its surroundings.
Music in Plaza Luis Martínez-Calcerrada
The series will continue on Thursday, August 13, in Plaza Luis Martínez-Calcerrada. Attendees will enjoy an elegant concert by Trío Lounge, accompanied by offerings from Pizzería Romero.
Choosing this square as a venue reinforces the idea of bringing culture to various points in the municipality, generating new spaces for gathering and community during the summer.
Grand finale with Sharma Sunsets at the mills
The program will conclude on Thursday, August 27, once again at the mills of the Sierra de la Horca. For the closing of this first edition of Atardeceres al Fresco, a session featuring DJ Sharma Sunsets has been scheduled, accompanied by a setup from Momento Events and Drinks.
This will mark the grand finale of a cycle intended to add new experiences to Herencia’s summer program and to take advantage of its most unique spaces.
A cultural program that keeps growing
The mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, highlighted the town’s ability to boast an “impeccable” cultural program year-round, especially in summer. He also emphasized that this agenda continues to expand, as the Town Council believes culture is a tool for energizing the community, supporting cultural groups, and ensuring Herencia keeps growing.
With Atardeceres al Fresco, Herencia adds a new initiative to its summer cultural calendar. This program invites everyone to step outside, rediscover familiar spaces, and enjoy culture in a relaxed, accessible atmosphere.
