The Culture and Festivities department unveiled the programming for the Summer Carnival 2026 in Herencia this morning—a celebration set to fill the town’s streets with color, music, creativity, and fun. This year marks its tenth edition, prominently recognized after being declared a National Tourist Festival and, since last year, a Cultural Heritage Asset.
A decade after its debut, the Summer Carnival has secured its place as one of the major festive events in Herencia. The town will once again showcase its carnival spirit, proving that it knows no season, bringing together residents and visitors for an open, participatory, and joyful celebration even in the summer.
A Foam Party as the Main Attraction
In this tenth edition, the program retains traditional events while introducing a new initiative aimed at expanding the celebration and engaging all audiences.
The highlight will occur on Saturday morning with a grand foam party, complemented by inflatable water attractions. This activity is specifically designed for families and aims to provide a refreshing, enjoyable day suited to the summer vibe.
With this addition, the Summer Carnival strengthens its family-oriented and participatory character, introducing new ways to enjoy a celebration that aims to grow each year while preserving its essence.
The Drag Queen Gala Returns on Friday Night
Before Saturday’s festivities, Friday night will feature the second edition of the Drag Queen Gala of the Herencia Carnival. This event debuted last year with tremendous success, attracting hundreds to Plaza de España.
The inaugural edition impressed with its artistic quality, spectacular performances, and enthusiastic audience response. Encouraged by that success, the gala aims to establish itself as one of the most prominent highlights of the Summer Carnival program.
The event will once again be hosted by local presenters, feature entertainment from the Fátima Martín del Campo groups, and include the participation of Drag Sethlas, winner of the esteemed Drag Race and Las Palmas Drag Queen Gala. Sethlas, the champion of Herencia’s first Drag Gala, will return to present the sash to the winner of this second edition.
Ten Years of a Pioneering Initiative
During the presentation, Aitor Gallego, the Councilor for Culture and Equality, emphasized the significance of reaching ten years of celebration. He remarked that this milestone highlights the “pioneering and creative nature” of an initiative that started with a unique proposal.
Gallego pointed out that Herencia was the first town to carry its carnival spirit into the summer, creating a distinctive format that has made it a point of reference in Castilla-La Mancha and one of the most prestigious carnivals in the country.
Thus, the tenth edition serves as an opportunity to reflect on the growth of this festivity, which has evolved over the years while always maintaining its carnival identity and its ability to engage the community.
An Open, Inclusive, and Diverse Carnival
Furthermore, the mayor of Herencia, Sergio García-Navas, highlighted that the Summer Carnival upholds the values that have made it a benchmark celebration. He emphasized its openness, participatory nature, inclusivity, and diversity, as well as its capability to create a space where everyone can enjoy themselves in respect and harmony.
The Summer Carnival 2026 will thus be a celebration characterized by participation, creativity, and diversity. A milestone that, ten editions after its initial launch, continues to thrive and reaffirm Herencia’s role as a carnival town.
With this new programming, Herencia is gearing up for another festive weekend, where the streets will once again be filled with music, color, and excitement. The Summer Carnival returns to demonstrate, once again, that the carnival spirit of the town remains alive throughout the year.
