The Herencia Town Hall is progressing in the enhancement of the irrigation network for parks, gardens, and green spaces with the aim of optimizing water consumption and improving system efficiency. This initiative is expected to achieve a water savings of between 40% and 50%.
The work focuses on the complete overhaul of the remote management system in areas such as Convento Street and the avenues of Alcázar and Alcalde José Roselló, where the existing installations have shown signs of aging. The project includes the integration of new devices that are fully compatible with the already installed ones, allowing for more precise and efficient irrigation control.
One of the main innovations is the remote management of the system via a mobile app or tablet, which makes it easier to adjust irrigation based on data from a weather station. This enables real-time water supply planning, adapting it to weather conditions, stopping irrigation in case of rain, and subsequently recalculating the needs of each area.
In addition to saving water, this modernization will optimize the human resources responsible for maintenance and will benefit the preservation of plant species by providing a more controlled and suitable irrigation method.
The investment, amounting to €9,818.42, is part of the Extraordinary Municipal Works Plan from the Provincial Council and is aligned with initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and sustainability in the municipality.
Mayor Sergio García-Navas visited the project alongside municipal architect Adoración Gallego, emphasizing that such projects “not only contribute to savings and more efficient resource use but also reflect the municipality’s commitment to the quality and care of its green areas.”
