The VI Plastic Arts Contest “In the Key of Woman” has announced its winner. After the submission period closed, the jury convened on Friday, February 27, at 12:30 PM to declare the winner of the 600 euros prize, once again highlighting artistic creation as a key part of the cultural programming linked to the International Women’s Day.
The winning piece is “THE WAIT”, created by artist Sergio Rocafort Giménez from Torrent (Valencia). This decision acknowledges a proposal that stood out among submissions and joins the growing narrative of a contest that has become a showcase of talent and reflection, inviting a perspective on reality “in the key of woman.”
Specialized Jury for an Economic Prize
The contest’s decision came after the submission period ended, with a jury composed of painting specialists: María del Señor Fernández-Amaro Díaz-Pavón and Beatriz Pérez de Bustos. Their evaluation determined the main prize for this sixth edition, which maintains the 600 euros award, offering not only symbolic recognition but also tangible support for artistic creation.
In initiatives like this, the jury’s role is essential. Their judgement not only fulfills the formal act of proclaiming the winner but also sets a standard and guides the direction of the contest. The presence of painting specialists in the deliberation enhances the technical and artistic evaluation, especially in a competition where the thematic focus provides a common framework for works that may vary significantly in style and language.
“The Wait”, Winning Work of the 2026 Edition
The winning proposal, “THE WAIT”, now marks this edition’s list of awardees with Sergio Rocafort Giménez from Torrent (Valencia). This choice positions the contest as a meeting point that transcends local boundaries, attracting and acknowledging works from creators in other regions, often enriching the overall exhibition with diverse perspectives.

Although the contest centers around a specific theme, the final outcome is usually a collection of open interpretations: experiences, symbolism, everyday life, or emotions can coexist in a single space. Thus, the winning work not only represents the prize but also serves as a reference for understanding the overall tone of the edition.
Two Finalists: “Shiloh” and “Untitled”
In addition to the main prize, the contest has distinguished two finalist works. The participants who received this honor are:
- Jéssica González Prados, with the work “Shiloh”.
- Mónica Delgado García, with the work “Untitled”.
Being named finalists places their works among the highest-rated by the jury in this competition, reinforcing the visibility of proposals that have stood out in a competitive process.

Award Ceremony on March 6, at the Commemorative Event for International Women’s Day
The award ceremony is scheduled for the commemorative event for International Women’s Day, taking place on March 6 at 6:00 PM. This date aligns with a series of activities traditionally centered around March 8, integrating the contest into a program with social and cultural significance.
This moment typically serves as the official conclusion of the competition: a public recognition, highlighting artistic work, and fostering engagement with the audience. For many cultural initiatives, the awards ceremony acts as a platform, and in this instance, the organizers wanted it to be directly connected to the commemorative event.
Exhibition at the Casa de Herencia during March and April
One eagerly anticipated announcement for the public is that the submitted works will be exhibited. According to reports, the artworks will be displayed in the Courtyard of the Casa de Herencia during the months of March and April, with visiting hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The exhibition allows the contest to extend beyond the jury’s decision, transforming it into an experience accessible to the community: attendees can view the works, compare styles, appreciate details, and engage with the theme from the viewer’s perspective. In a public space, the exhibition invites art to become part of everyday life.
Acknowledgment to Participants
The organizers have expressed gratitude to all participating artists, as well as congratulations to the awardees. In competitions of this nature, participation is the driving force: without submissions, there is no contest, and without diverse proposals, there is no artistic dialogue. Thus, recognition also extends to those who submitted their works and contributed to shaping this edition.
